Laboratory Technologist Primary Care Medical Services a unit within Health Services at Columbia is seeking to hire a Laboratory Technologist to operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment and supplies in performing standardized testing procedures, under quality control conditions. The ideal candidate will utilize our electronic medical record to record laboratory results; draw blood, collect specimens for lab tests, such as: CBC, sed rates, morphology gram stains, monospot urinalysis, platelet counts, urine pregnancy tests, urine microscopy rapid HIV testing, and rapid influenza testing. The incumbent will implement quality control and document findings on a regular basis. The incumbent will also properly handle and dispose of specimens and red-bag waste; screen and channels abnormal lab reports to appropriate clinician. Maintain appropriate records for database in compliance with accreditation and other regulatory agency guidelines. Participates in Quality Assurance projects. Performs other related laboratory duties as directed by the Urgent Care Manager and Clinical Laboratory Director. **MIN QUALS Must be licensed by New York State as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must maintain information and systems with strict attention to confidentiality. Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes some Saturdays.
